Initial consultation

During the initial visit I look at the site and discuss your requirements, the style of garden you would like, problem areas, your budget and the amount of time you have available for gardening. I will then be able to give you a quotation for the design work or, in the case of larger projects, a quotation for the first stage of the design.

Site survey

An accurate survey of the existing site is needed before any design work can start. I familiarise myself with your garden, noting views, features to be retained, slopes and levels, soil type and prevailing winds. I measure smaller gardens myself but larger or more complex sites require the services of a land surveyor.

Outline plan

An outline plan is prepared showing landscape features, hard landscaping and planted areas. This plan may be all that you require if you want to tackle a smaller project yourself. For larger projects, the outline plan allows me to present my ideas and talk through any other options or solutions to particular issues that may exist.

Layout plan and construction plans

The final Layout Plan incorporates changes agreed with you and is the plan from which a contractor can estimate costs and build the garden. A Setting Out Plan giving detailed measurements and Construction Details of specific features such as ponds, retaining structures or hard surfaces may also be required and will be provided with the Layout Plan.

Planting plans

The Planting Plan shows the position and quantity of all the plants in the design. Some clients prefer ‘instant’ gardens using large specimen plants while others prefer to allow their gardens to mature over time. Your preference (and budget) will be discussed at the outset. Plantings plans can be designed as part of a full design project or as stand-alone jobs if your garden simply needs additional planting to refresh or update an existing scheme.

Garden renovation

Many clients buy properties with established gardens that are past their prime. Often the basic layout of the garden is sound or just needs adjusting slightly to fit with a modern lifestyle. Very often the planting has become tired or patchy. The garden renovation service aims to understand how you want to use the garden and to restore it appropriately back to its best.

Construction

Tina can recommend professional and reliable local contractors to transform her plans into reality or can work with a landscaper of your choice, providing regular visits to site if required.

Planting service

A full planting service can be provided, sourcing well-grown, healthy plants from an established network of local nurseries and wholesale nurseries. Alternatively, plants can be provided for you or your gardener to add to your garden.
